The story of Scott Aicher and Cornbone Studios and how I got here.
My family and I currently live in the Texas Hill Country in The Good ol’United States of America.
We left our home where I was born and raised in Southern California, after losing family members and the wild restrictions during the crazy time we all lived through recently. My wife took an early retirement from teaching. We sold what we had and gathered all our family members to put down roots in Texas near our nephew and his wife. They took a cross country trip to find a place for us all to settle in together.
My health had become a concern at the time due to my weight. My family got behind me and got us to Texas.
My doctor here suggested a fitness class which I was attending regularly until I was able to work out on my own at home.
I’m gaining back mobility instead of pounds. Getting better sleep in the clean air here. Things are getting better every day.
So anyhoo, you may be wondering…. What’s a cornbone?
A few times a year I would spend a week or so with my grandparents. On Saturday mornings my Grandmother and I went to a roadside farm stand and got fresh corn for dinner. After dinner my Grandfather would break up the corn cobs he fed to his German Shepherd, Duke. Sometimes I got to give them to Duke.
I did not know they were called cobs and I would say, “time to give Duke those Cornbones!” All the adults found that hilarious. I had a lot of fun summers there.
I did a lot of artwork over the years for the garment apparel industry and big entertainment companies. The merchandise was sold in amusement parks y’all know. I made art for years for a surf wear company, made art for record labels and bands, and eventually sold my paintings in art galleries.
Lately, I have been illustrating books for a publisher and making art pretty much every day I can. I’m still drawing comics and making paintings all the time. Lots to share in the days ahead on this website. So,don’t go too far and remember to check back now and then.
I still love a big cup of black coffee all day long. I gave up the Toaster Pastries and American Cheese I ate all the time. Still love Vinyl Records and when I can I get a new one now and then. Still love art supplies. Kind of into birdwatching now with my wife. I got her a book on Texas Birds and we both try to find different ones in the backyard.
With the love I have received from my family I’ve finally became aware Jesus Christ has looked over me and my faith in him and my salvation has been restored.
So to all y’all who are still here enjoying art with me I Thank You and may God Bless You and Your Families
Happy Trails and Ciao For Now, Scott Aicher
